They first met through the overseas Indonesian students’ association alliance (PPID), which represents all Indonesian students studying abroad. They are part of the Environmental Commission’s Research and Studies Department.

Emeralda met and got to know Surya’s younger sibling directly while on a student exchange in Taiwan, and they eventually came to know each other’s family backgrounds better.

After technical guidance on the elections committee at Bali, Surya got to know Emeralda personally by visiting and meeting Emeralda’s family in Mojokerto City, East Java.

Following istikharah and getting the blessings of both parents, ustadz-ustadzah, Surya intends to take things to the next level by bringing the family to Emeralda’s residence in Mojokerto City and giving khitbah (wedding proposal).

Mojokerto City
During the winter holidays, we decided to return to Indonesia to care for our mother, who was hospitalized. On Friday, January 19th, 2024 (Rajab 7th, 1445H), we had a holy wedding after both parents agreed. Considering our far places (China and Taiwan), and our parents’ ease in order we are foremost religiously legitimate. The formal wedding and reception, insha’Allah, will take place on April 14th, 2024.
